This small seaside cottage in Muizenberg, a stone’s throw away from St James, is where Cecil John Rhodes spent his last days at the young age of 49. Rhodes was an industrialist, imperialist, a mining magnate, politician and later on in his life, a philanthropist. There are photos, clippings and caricatures revealing the man behind the legacy and the cottage also boasts a lovely indigenous mountain garden.
Also worth a visit is Rhodes Memorial which isĀ on Devil’s Peak and is a memorial to Rhodes which was designed by the renowned architect, Sir Herbert Baker.
